In October 2026, Cultures Connection supported the Canadian Association of Pharmacy in Oncology (CAPhO) with English-to-French translation of educational presentations. The materials were prepared for Oncology Fundamentals Day, an online learning event held on October 17 for oncology pharmacy professionals.
Sharing specialist knowledge across languages
The project included Alex Martinson’s presentation on the fundamentals of anticancer therapy pharmacology and Laura Minard’s session on oncology pharmacy research and mentoring learners. Other materials addressed vaccination for adults with cancer, including a presentation by Sarah Zorzit.
Together, these topics reflect the range of knowledge covered by a professional education programme: foundational concepts, day-to-day practice and experience shared by practitioners. The translation needed to make the presentations accessible to French-speaking participants while preserving their scientific meaning.
Working with the presentation format
Medical slide decks require close attention to both terminology and brevity. Headings, key points and supporting explanations need consistent wording without making individual slides harder to read.
This assignment involved PowerPoint presentations and associated content. It illustrates why translating educational materials means considering how information is organized visually as well as how it is expressed in the target language.
Translation support for Canadian education providers
Our collaboration with CAPhO forms part of our work on medical and scientific content for Canadian organizations. Cultures Connection helps associations and professional teams make their learning resources available in English and French.
